Characteristics of German mentality are: love for order, pedantry, savings, punctuality, productivity, religiosity, wordlessness, egality, affability and courtesy. As paremiae are an inseparable part of the spiritual culture of any nation they frequently demonstrate overlaps in life situations assessment and witness about the existence of full equivalents in both languages. But more often paremiae prove the differences in worldviews and show off certain national traits which are traced in relation of Ukrainian and German people to marriage. In German culture marriage is seen as an important and necessary step in human life, but in Ukrainian as a difficult trial. Figurative meaning of Ukrainian and German paremiae may either coincide or differ. This is particularly evident in terms of paremiaewith zoomorphic components. It is precisely that we should pay particular attention to when selecting the equivalent in translation. Paremiae can be formed in a complicated and implicit way. The amount of paremiae in any language tends to shorten over time, as social relations during some historic periods which are reflected in paremiae may alter or disappear, and thus it is impossible to use the paremiae under different historic conditions.
