Parents Views on Acquisition of Values in Social Studies Course Curriculum

Abstract

The purpose of this study is examine of the views of the parents regarding the level of acquisition of the values in the seventh grade Social Studies course curriculum. The research was carried out in accordance with the qualitative paradigm. The research study group consisted of 12 parents who were identified using the method of maximum diversity sampling from the parents of the students who were studying in the seventh grade. A Semi-structured interview form consisting of seven questions was used in this study to collect data. Descriptive analysis was used in the analysis of the data. According to interviews with the parents, children have achieved the values they have gained (respect for differences, patriotism, aesthetics, honesty, scientificness, fairness and peace).There have been emphasized opinions about the importance of family factor in respecting differences, patriotism, honesty, fairness and peace.
