POLICY PLANNING AS SEGMENT OF NATIONAL GEORGIAN DEFENSE MANAGEMENT

Abstract
The present article aims to familiarize the broader public showing interest in the defense and security issues with the political and legal aspects of the available model of the defense policy planning (as the most important component of public administration) of Georgia- the country aspiring for membership in the North-Atlantic Treaty Organization. It also seeks to present the findings of the scientific study on defense policy planning to the academic community for its consideration. Thus, the article provides an review of the Georgian defense policy conceptual dimension, as well as the institutional features of the existing model of the national defense policy planning (as a core element of the national defense system’s public administration): the scope and format of the national and agency-level defense policy planning documents; defense policy formulation methodology; defense policy planning horizon; peculiarities of implementation of the governmental balance in the defense policy planning.
