Possibilities of implementing the idea of flexicurity in the public health sector

Abstract

Demographic trends and the Polish accession to the European Union to a large extent de-termine the need for changes in the labor market in the health sector. Changes allowing to achieve an adequate level of employment, while fully making use of the human potential of health professionals. representatives. The concept of flexicurity, combining the concepts of flexibility and employment securi-ty, is considered to be a comprehensive approach to creating these changes in the European Union, and its implementation is necessary to achieve the objectives of the Lisbon Strategy to create more opportunities for good jobs in each of the countries belonging to the European Community. The aim of this study was to analyze the public health sector in the context of the four fundamental principles of flexicurity: the availability of flexible forms of employ-ment, while creating a sense of job security, active labor market policies, lifelong learning environment conducive to allowing employees to continually adjust to work market require-ments and the creation and efficient functioning of social security schemes for employees of the health sector. In addition, the author has attempted to identify opportunities to implement flexicurity at the level of Healthcare Services.
