Preparowanie „Kobiety”: Co łączy rozkładówkę i Wenus z Milo?

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to define the mechanisms of shaping female body into an object of either sexual, or aesthetic pleasure. It is argued that pornography and art have been related and codependent elements of the Western culture (Nead 1998), and given this approach, no attempt of demarcating between pornography and art has been made in this paper. Therefore, the major question posed through out the article refers to the similarities (not differences) between means of constructing female body in nude art and in so-called glamour photos, which are trademark of numerous magazines for men, based on the Playboy format and qualified as soft pornography. The findings suggest that, even though pornography and art appears to constitute separate cultural fields, both of them apply parallel disciplinary tools in order to produce the feminine ideal.
