PRINCIPLE OF INDEPENDENCE IN THE ACTIVITIES BY THE EUROPEAN CENTRAL BANK AND THOSE BY THE NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE

Abstract
The given article deals with the analysis of the principle of independence followed by the National Bank of Ukraine as an institute responsible for the state monetary policy leaving out the government’s involvement with view to the EU expe- rience. The influence of international law on the understanding of the principle of independence observed by the National Bank is described to be further followed by the trends mentioned relevant to understanding the principle of independence. Such is presented by differentiating the five types of independence: a) goal-oriented independence, b) functional inde- pendence, c) institutionally economic independence, d) personal independence, and e) the legal one. The article con- cludes that we are observing the trend aiming to design the institutional part of the Ukrainian banking system in line with the contemporary European legal requirements.
