Psychological and pedagogical support of the students with special needs in higher educational institutions

Abstract

In the article the author considers the essence of the «inclusion» concept and reveals the role of the inclusive approach concept in higher educational institutions. The author focuses on objective conditions, forcing teachers of higher education institutions to reconsider the traditional structure of classical education system increasingly orienting towards individualized and personalized approaches, making the overall standard program available to all students. It is emphasized that an integral part of the rehabilitation process is psychological and pedagogical support for persons with impaired mental and physical development. Psychological and pedagogical support is presented in this article as a set of measures implemented in a higher education institution and provide for adaptation of the educational process to the needs and characteristics of persons with disabilities. The principle tasks of psychological and pedagogical support for the students with special needs have been determined. The features of psychological and educational assistance to the students with special needs in the educational process have been presented and there have been made an attempt to develop a model of psychological and pedagogical support of the students with special needs in higher education institutions under conditions of inclusive education.
