RECEPTION OF SLOVAKIA IN THE MILITARY PROSE BY O. HONCHAR AND A. SHYIAN

Abstract
The article is devoted to current problems of literary comparativistics. The features of the artistic reception of the image of Slovakia and the Slovaks in the military prose of Ukrainian writers of the second half of the twentieth century are studied on the material of the domestic literature. The object of the study was the works of military prose by O. Gonchar and A. Shiyan, which recreated the circumstances of the relations between the Slovaks and Ukrainians during the Second World War. The article explores the problematics and artistic and stylistic features of O. Gonchar’s prose trilogy “Standard-Bearers”, the story “Blue Stone”, and A. Shiyan’s reporting series “Partisan Land!” The thematic perspectives and leitmotive images, with the help of which Ukrainian writers reproduce the mental portrait and color of the national identity of representatives of the fraternal Slavic people, are analyzed.
