REGARDING THE ISSUE OF PATRIOTIC EDUCATION OF THE CHILDREN FROM ATO-FAMILIES AND INTERNALLY RELOCATED PERSONS

Abstract

The article presents a description of the military conflict in the Donbas region of Ukraine initiated by Russia, which has caused the emergence of a category of children from ATO- (Anti-Terrorist Operation) and IRP- (Internal Relocation of Persons) families. Internally relocated persons are those who were forced to leave their houses (apartments) of their permanent residence in order to avoid negative results of the armed conflict, violence, violation of human rights, etc. The outcomes of the survey of the upbringing and development of preschool children from the ATO- and IRP-families who are brought up in preschool institutions of general education situated in various regions of Ukraine are represented. The survey was conducted according to the elaborated questionnaires. There were some questions among them: a) How did a child survive the traumatic events?; b) What specific features of the development, upbringing and manifestation of behaviour are characteristic of the children from the ATO- and IRP-families?; c) What common features of the development and manifestation of behaviour are typical of the children from the ATO- and IRP-families? Among the negative (alarming) manifestations there were noted these ones: resettlement, death of the nearest and dearest and separation from them, explosions, spending nights in bomb shelters, etc. The first place among the positive personal qualities is occupied by these ones: patriotism, caring, responsibility and other qualities. The analysis of the educators’ plans for educational and upbringing work demonstrated insufficient work with children on patriotic upbringing, in most cases there was noted a kind of identification of the notions “national” and «patriotic upbringing» The necessity of developing a concept of preschool children’s patriotic upbringing was substantiated in the article; the concept “patriotism” within the line of V. Sukhomlinsky’s pedagogical heritage was defined.
