Abstract
After Turkish Republic was proclaimed, ruling class endeavored to produce a national language and history perception, and paid special heed to make its modern residents see the lands, which had just been enclosed, as their “homeland”. With this design, in early years of new regime geography congresses were held, curricula were nationalized, and while maps of what had remained of Ottoman Empire were being prepared field works were done. Hayrettin Ziya Taluy, one of the first bureaucrats of Republic generation, in his five-novel-series titled “Adventures of a Little Traveler” used “homeland image”, defined by official ideology, and “ideal childhood” together. This article discusses representation of Anatolia mostly as an “enclosed” homeland on map, not as a natural environment in Hayrettin Ziya Taluy’s “Adventures of a Little Traveler” series, together with its reflections from official ideology.
