RESTAURATION IN ESTHETIC ZONE WITH ZIRCONIA-BASED BRIDGES
Journal Title: Analele Universitatii Dunarea de Jos din Galati, Fascicula XVII, Medicina - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
In frontal tooth loss, patients seek immediate therapy. Porcelain fused to metal restorations were considered the gold standard as reliable material. In the metal-free era of dentistry there is an increasing demand for esthetics restoration. Zirconia is a ceramic material with suitable mechanical properties for production of dental crowns and bridges, used with proven clinical success in frontal and lateral area. Regarding abutment preparation chamfer, shoulder and feather-edge design can be used for zirconia-based restorations; clinical decision should be based on periodontal condition of abutment teeth, amount of remaining tooth structure and operator skills and experience.
