THE ESTIMATION OF THE SERUM CONCENTRATION OF CALCIUM AND MAGNESIUM IN WOMEN FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF FOOD SUPPLEMENTS
Journal Title: Analele Universitatii Dunarea de Jos din Galati, Fascicula XVII, Medicina - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
Calcium and magnesium are macro elements involved in most metabolic processes. Thorough knowledge of these two macro elements is required to correct the possible existing unbalances. For this study, there were performed correlations between the values of the biochemical parameters in non-pregnant and pregnant women to notice whether the physiological condition of pregnancy leads to significant changes in them. The concentration of ionic calcium gives important information about the effect of total proteins over the level of serum calcium. The study has not revealed important variations of the plasmatic protein level, of the ionic calcium and of the total serum calcium in the groups of analysed subjects. This allows us to assert that food supplements are not always needed. The calcium and magnesium intake can be ensured by a diet suitable for the physiological condition.
