SCHOOL NEWSPAPER AS A DIDACTIC RESOURCE BASED ON THE PEMON CALENDAR FOR STRENGTHENING OF ANCESTRAL TRADITIONS

Abstract
The school newspaper offers education a set of mechanisms among which you can find means and resources to disseminate information, contribute to the educational process and the assimilation and understanding of the issues. That is why this study aims to design a school newspaper for the dissemination of the Pemón calendar, as a didactic resource to strengthen ancestral traditions in basic education. The research had framed under the quantitative paradigm, a special project modality, with support in a descriptive level field investigation. In this order, the population of this study had made up of nine executives from nine educational institutions of the Gran Sabana municipality, in the state of Bolívar. The data collection technique was the survey, for which the questionnaire had used as an instrument. The results report circumstances that must be address by the authorities in relation to the few activities related to the dissemination and promotion of customs, ways of life, family organization, rites, myths and legends of the Pemón people, including their calendar. However, good disposition was observe in the managerial staff to correct the registered circumstances. With the design and implementation of the school newspaper for the promotion and dissemination of the Pemón calendar, a didactic tool for strengthening indigenous identity and preserving ancestral culture is available
