Journal Title: Актуальні питання гуманітарних наук: Міжвузівський збірник наукових праць молодих вчених Дрогобицького державного педагогічного університету - Year 2018, Vol 20, Issue 3
Abstract
The article deals with the stylistic-syntactic organization of T. Melnychuk’s poems with the key word-image “horse”. The functioning of the ancient zoomorphic symbol in comparative phrases, appositions, parceling and inversive construc- tions, various types of reiteration, which contribute to creating a unique individual syntactic build of the poetic text, is studied. The symbolism of the attributes with colour semantics is analysed as a means of depicting the vitaistic image of horse. The folk poetic origins of the author’s works are paid attention to. It is found that the image of horse was among the means of creating expressive syntax as a characteristic feature of the dissident poet’s individual style. It is noted that the folk image of horse is one of the symbols that are main means of T. Melnychuk’s poetics. The unique character of the author’s individual manner lies in the skill of creating associative imagery. It is stated that the zoomorphic image has cultural-symbolic poetic associations appearing when the author addresses the facts of life with lasting semantic aura. The vitaistic image of the sun, the cyclic recurrence of life as a symbol of its continuation are encoded in the animalistic image. The association is accentuated by colour symbols, among them the folk poetic epithets “gold”, “golden”, where the word image is the life-giving sap. The colour variety is represented by both pre-positive and post-positive attributes. According to Slavonic mythology, white horse symbolizes resurrection, power, unconscious strength. The imageword кінь modified by the attributes “black”, “green”, “red” is used as an embodiment of fate. The imagery of a patriot-citizen intensifies the modality of incentive and probability that increases emotional-psychological tension. The key word-image “horses” personifies the image of stoic Ukrainian people. The deep philosophic motif of self-identification, one’s mission is embodied through peculiar presentation of the image of horse to denote a toiler ani- mal. Significant in T. Melnychuk’s works is sadness because the image of horse has lost its symbolic meaning of Cossack dignity and national identity. It is determined that the image of horse, that embodies unrestrainable passion, helps the author to represent his own character: burning desire, work intensity, love of freedom, uncompromising attitude.
