‘Supportive’ pedagogy and personal resources of a student and a teacher

Abstract
The author, referring to the current situation, conducted research and her own teaching experience in instrument-playing, attempts to verify working styles, types of teachers and significance of a master-disciple relationship. She draws attention to the actual scope of a pedagogue’s competences and the fact how it affects students. The author seeks answers to the following questions: How should optimal instrumental pedagogy look? What should it be about? What factors should determine it? She makes references to the roles played by a student and a teacher, tasks they are faced with, as well as their personal resources. She recommends implementing complex didactic, methodological and educational activities. On those grounds, the author puts forward a model of work called by her ‘supportive’ pedagogy, indicating the need for combining and merging types of teachers and working styles as the factors which could play the key role in a student’s comprehensive development.
