Test Control of Students on a Special Course “The Correctional Activities of Educators of Rehabilitation Centers” (based on the ascertaining experiment)

Abstract

The author reveals the theoretical approaches to the problem of test control of students on a special course “The Correctional Activities of Educators of Rehabilitation Centers”, analyzes the views of other researchers on this problem in this article. The content of the concept “test” in the light of modern education has been revealed by the author. The author persuades that comparing to traditional forms of control testing has the following advantages: objectivity of assessment of students knowledge and skills, the opportunity of realization of purposeful systematic control over the level of students’ knowledge on the special course “The Correctional Activities of Educators of Rehabilitation Centers”, simples in holding, in the saving of time required to run the test and its validation, by analyzing scientific sources and tests that are used in the educational process. The main traditional forms of test tasks that can be recommended for the making tests, in particular they are: the tasks of the closed form with proposed answers; the tasks of the open form with the freely constructed responses have been described in the article. The author has come to the conclusion, based on the analysis of literary sources on the designated problem, that to control the formation of the competence of undergraduate students of bachelor’s degree in the specialty “Pre-School Education” the using of closed tests, different on the principle of constructing an answer: alternative test tasks, test tasks with a simple multiple choice, the answer of which is based on the principle of classification, test tasks for comparison and opposition would be the most appropriate. During the preparation for the using of tests, the following provisions should be taken into account: not to allow abusing of tests or their results; to be aware of the objective possibilities and disadvantages of tests and not to expect more from them than they can give; to use in the educational process such tests that not only could check the mastery of students of educational material, but also prompted them to think; in order to obtain prompt and objective results, to remember that the information obtained by the test could be never complete and comprehensive has been emphasized. The author also gives examples of test tasks and offers the results of his own research, which confirm the relevance and practical necessity of investigating individual issues.
