THE BURNOUT SYNDROME. A LOOK FROM THE TEACHING EVERYDAY. CASE: ESCUELA TALLER “MONSEÑOR ARIAS BLANCO”
Journal Title: Prohominum - Year 2019, Vol 1, Issue 4
Abstract
Burnout Syndrome is the consequence of chronic work stress that affects those whose jobs are to help and support others. This syndrome can generate symptoms ranging from physical, mental and emotional exhaustion to conflicting interpersonal relationships. For this reason, this research was intended to understand how the teacher of the Escuela Taller “Monsignor Arias Blanco” perceives the Burnout Syndrome, from the perception of his needs and the concerns that affect his teaching practice during his day labor. We worked under the postpositivist paradigm, with a qualitative approach. The method used was hermeneutical phenomenology. The in-depth interview was applied. The results showed that teachers are in constant internal and external pressure, with an existential burden in which they seem to ignore the true evil that afflicts them. They show emotional fatigue. In addition, they try to ignore what happens to them, protecting themselves from that negative feeling. Therefore, they develop an impersonal attitude to try alleviating their tensions and adapting to different situations which decreases their work commitment
