THE EXTERNAL CONDITIONS FOR THE FIRM TO BECOME AND KEEP BEING INNOVATIVE

Abstract
Every economic activities of the firm take place in defined institutional and economic surrounding. The hypothesis is that surrounding influences in an important manner the directions of performance of the firm. The institutional surrounding is being constituted first of all by national law but also law issued by international organizations country in .question belongs which is superior to the national law. The research has been carried for Poland and the regions3. The influence of the changes of institutional surrounding has been investigated4 for Poland as a time variable. The times of historic institutional changes have been identified and within those periods the number of new innovative firms had been counted. It turned out that more regulations in economy the less innovative firms had been created. The influence of economic surrounding has been measured for a given time, by the level of market development by identification of the value of the following indicators of: - PKB per capita, the structure of value added, the coverage of transport network as well as the number of students. This analysis proved that the level of market development has a strong positive connotation with intensity of the number of innovative firms in the region. There has been presented a model permitting construction of ranking of the mist innovative firms in the sample in the ore words the most competitive ones.
