Abstract
The article is devoted to the definition of genre peculiarities of the novel by Yu. Andrukhovуch «Lexicon of Intimate Cities». Each fiction work is the result of the figurative knowledge and reflection of the reality of the artist. Through the author's imaginative vision, the fiction aesthetes the material of practical speech and consolidates style and stylistic meanings for linguistic units. Therefore, during the study it was established that the novel is a collection of essays, memoirs, which are connected by individually significant events of the past. In such works there are elements of diaries in which there is no single story, and the author creates the aesthetic integrity. Genre mixing is traced in each part of the book «The Lexicon of Intimate Cities» of Yu. Andrukhovуch. Since the story of travel is at the center of attention of the above-mentioned novel by Yu. Andrukhovуch, it is logical to consider the dominant genre pattern as a travelogue – a literary journey. The article is also devoted to the identification of specific features of certain genres, which are typical for the novel by Yu. Andruchovуch «Lexicon of Intimate Cities». Note that travel literature may contain features of different genres. The main linguistic peculiarities of the above-mentioned genres include the following: the richness of the most diverse vocabulary, namely the names of persons, things, actions, phenomena, signs; chronotropic units; all semantic-grammatical types of sentences; emotional and expressive vocabulary, namely synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, phraseologisms; used with the stylistic goal historicism, archaism, dialecticism, ornamental elements; paths and stylistic figures, namely metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche, comparison, epithet, hyperbola, personification, alliteration, assonance, anaphora, repetitions, syntactic parallelism, ellipse, incomplete sentences, rhetorical circles, questions, multi-alliance, unions (unions) and others; characteristic is the use of a number of names and realities that reflect the fiction reality of the described events and places.
