THE IMPLEMENTATION OF EDUCATIONAL IDEAS IN THE LITERARY WORKS OF THE BEGINNING OF XX CENTURY ON THE HUTSULIAN THEME: NARATIVE STRATEGIES

Abstract

The article reveals peculiarities of narrative stories of works of Ukrainian writing of the beginning of the 20th century on Hutsul subjects. The purpose of the study is to select the characteristics that are perceived in the context of the concept of «Hutsul text», and at the same time they complement it with written guidelines, pedagogical ideas and thoughts about the present and future of Hutsulshchyna. The analysis involves both well-known and poorly-studied works of Lesia Ver- hovynka, Konstantina Malitskaya, Nicholas Matyiv-Melnyk and Marko Cheremshina. Contemplating the educational idea, Ukrainian writers of the first third of the twentieth century. chose different ways of its embodiment, using different narrative strategies. The strategy of the nаrrator in the works of Marko Cher- emshina is aimed at finding the presenters of the land, which must meet the public purpose, to be «hope», «science» of the region. According to the author, in the choice of the future social strategy for the development of the young gener- ation of Hutsulshchyna, the main argument should be the combination of a people's understanding of harmonious life with the universe with a view to building an ideal picture of the world of Hutsul region in the context of world space. In K. Malitskaya and Lesya Verkhovynka, the narrative strategy consists in the active intervention of the narrator in the life choices of the heroes; in the works there is a certain didacticism, used with one purpose – to show the best examples of the interaction of the inner world of the character to direct the activities of the younger generation of the region. M. Matyiv-Melnyk is deepened in the psychology of the child, which makes it possible to construct the «narrator-char- acter» scheme in a double perspective as a detached observer of the actions of the hero and an active participant in the actions of the character by disclosing the inner world and explaining the reasons why a small hutsul is capable take a viable decision in life. Western Ukrainian writers creatively modeled the main educational events of the contemporary society. The best representatives of the young generation of Hutsuliya perceived the land as an integral part of the European space. To summarize, we note: the Hutsul text of the first decades of the twentieth century. reflected the gradual changes in the psychologist's peasant's own education. Artists for heroes choose life's priorities for their personal education or educa- tional future for their own family. Hence, the «аttraction» and the writers' desire to see the heroes are «exceptional» and talented, capable of giving their creative abilities in favor of society.
