THE STATE OF DEVELOPMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN TURKEY AT THE TURN OF XX-XXI CENTURIES

Abstract

The article analyzes the state of higher education in Turkey at the turn of XX&XXI centuries. On the basis of the historical and systemic approaches are studied changes related to higher education in Turkey, the necessity of finding ways to improve the preparation of the future expert in the conditions of integration processes. Analyzing the research of Turkish scholars, the author summarizes the process of formation and propagation of the higher education system in Turkey, defines the historical background of the transformation of the education system to meet the growing demands of society. The author reveals the characteristic features of the modern educational environment on the basis of a comparative analysis of systemic training in Turkey and Western European countries, noting that the content of higher education is strongly influenced by the European integration trends and characterized by the new requirements associated with entry into the European educational space. It was found that under the Bologna process and the integration of high school clearly outlines key trends in the development of university education: democratization, humanization and humanitarization, fundamentalization of higher education and the standardization of educational content, optimization and intensification of education, accessibility and low cost of education, as well as creating a network of universities, the availability of technical means and multi&level nature of higher education. The author notes that the foundation of educational reform in Turkey was the unification of the high school, due to the expansion of universities by the addition of non&university institutions (institutes, colleges) to the university network. Turkish universities have become powerful scientific training and production center, with an extensive network of colleges, research institutes, laboratories, faculties, on which the preparation of highly qualified specialists in various fields of knowledge.
