TOPONIM "KYIV" IN SONGS OF KIRSHA DANILOV: SEMANTIC AND COGNITIVE ARCHEOLOGY OF THE NAME

Abstract

The present article is devoted to peculiarities of the cognitive, semantic and communicative functioning of toponym «Kiev» in the historical paradigm of the epic collection of Kirsha Danilov; to the problem of the toponym epic intonation in the Kiev epic cycle and its mythopoetic discourse; to the semantic content of the symbol and symbolic meaning of a word; their historical and iconic meanings including the morphological and phonetic properties of the old text. The functioning of onym Kiev are studied with reliance on work on paradigmatic text by Yu. M. Lotman and the problems of toponymic typology by V. A. Superanskaya taking new approaches and methods as a cognitive and semantic analysis of toponymy, concept and conceptosphere, also taking a discursive approach and discursive description of the epic onomasticon. The name of Kiev plays the role of a centering factor in historical cognition and in the mythopoetic system of the early Old Russian epic. The discursive properties of the epic text, phenomenological characteristics of the ancient capital are formed from the separate fragments of the historical and cultural toponymy, Kiev conceptosphere, as the semantic basis of the historical information and poetry as a key to recognizing the symbolic Kiev history, epically and semantically documented and encoded in medieval discursive descriptions; the ethnic, military, social, cultural and economic relations with neighboring states, semantically and syntactically determined by intonation and rhythmic organization of the epic text as a living language, where the Kiev’s name is emphatically intoned as specific toponymic constructions attributed to communicative, cognitive and expressive markers of the Old Russian epic.
