Abstract
The article is devoted to the current state of British philosophy of 17-18 centuries researches in the modern Ukrainian tradition. Three most influential philosophers of that period were J. Locke, G. Berkeley and D. Hume. Actually, we can speak of some revitalization and rise of quality in the modern Ukrainian researches on that subject. However, there is still a long way to go. Such problems as lack of correct translations, huge amount of incorrect or ideologically engaged judgements, and absence of qualified critical works are still actual for the homeland tradition. Huge number of works written by J. Locke, G. Berkeley and D. Hume still presented only in English or outdated Russian translations. Another specific feature of those researches is descriptive style of building. Local critics are more likely to retell some positions of British empiricists’ works, than trying to find some original solutions. Lack of communication between researchers is another problem of domestic tradition. It leads to repetition of some thoughts and objects. This is the state of affairs that highly contrasts with modern state of British researches of J. Locke’s, G. Berke ley’s and D. Hume’s heritage. Such scientists as J. Bennet, M. Ayers, R. Fogelin are researching that object in completely different form. They are trying to concentrate on some problematical points or not resolved questions in British empiricism theory. Also there is a high culture of communication between British researchers of that problematic. Another problem of domestic researches of British empiricism is methodological uncertainty. As usual, researches are acquiring with descriptive and comparative methods. Accurate work with original texts, connection with modern British tradition, and searching of original position can increase the level of Ukrainian researches of British empiricism tradition.
