Using the Mathcad environment in the training of students of technical specialties of the probability theory
Journal Title: Дидактика математики: проблемы и исследования - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 45
Abstract
The new goals of education assume the formation of a creative personality that is competitive in the labor market, therefore, high standards are imposed on the preparation of students of tech-nical specialties of higher educational institutions. One of the important indicators of the degree of qualification of a modern engineer is his professional literacy, and under present conditions it is almost impossible to train a competent specialist without using computer technology tools. Software tools and shells allow you to accelerate, to a large extent, with the help of computer technology, the computational aspects of solving complex technical problems. Real problems of an applied nature, the solution of which requires the use of methods and techniques of probability theory and mathematical statistics, are characterized by the need to implement significant amounts of computation, algorithmic complexity. Obtaining results in similar tasks without the use of computer technology is difficult or almost impossible. One of the software tools designed to perform a variety of numerical and engineering calculations on the computer is Mathcad. It is equipped with an easy-to-learn and easy-to-use graphical interface that provides the user with tools for working with formulas, numbers, graphs and texts. The Mathcad system has great potential for solving problems in mathematical statistics and probability theory. This is due, first of all, to the universality, the adaptation to the numerical, symbolic and graphic solution of a wide range of mathematical problems. In addition, the program has a considerable number of special statistical functions that can signifi-cantly reduce the time of solving the computational problems. Using the capabilities of Mathcad, it is possible to process selective data, build various graphs, and test statistical hypotheses due to the built-in functions of all theoretical distributions. The article deals with the application of the Mathcad environment for teaching students of technical specialties to mathematics. Recommendations are given for solving problems in probability theory and mathematical statistics with the help of this software product.
