VACANT CITY. RESILIENCE CONCEPT IN SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZED TOWNS REGENERATION PROCESS

Journal Title: przestrzeń i FORMa - Year 2015, Vol 23, Issue 23

Abstract

Mitigation of depopulation or urban degeneration according to climate changes and re-sources depletion is a challenge for designers. “Vacant cities” like ecosystems demon-strate different levels of resilience – an ability to rebuilt and renewal. Facing risk of distur-bances, communal regeneration programs should follow rules of natural ecosystem dy-namics and their adaptive and renewal capacity to include a resilience in urban planning.
