Abstract
Towards anthropology of security: New trends in scientific research of the Institute of National Remembrance Since the materials collected at the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) have been made available, researchers have begun to redefine many views on the events of the postwar period in Polish historiography. In the first place, researchers began to reveal hitherto unknown or little known facts about the activities of the communist security apparatus, as well as social resistance. At the same time, due to the general civilizational changes that also apply to Polish society, memory has played an increased role in group identity and become an instrument of political power. This reconceptualization is also subject to this history. The author’s concern is whether IPN will be able to take part in the reconceptualization based on the source materials gathered by the institute itself.
