Abstract
In 2010-2012, in the framework of preparation for the Euro 2012 football championship, a complete reconstruction of the airport «Lviv» was carried out with the installation of airport runway of 3305 m long and 45 + 2×1.5 m wide of the following construction: monolithic cement concrete Btbb 4.0/50 with a thickness of 450 mm; lean concrete M75-400 mm; ground cement M40-250 mm; compacted soil. The article is devoted to the diagnostics of the condition of a concrete pavement of the damaged section of the «Lviv» airport runway and the development of recommendations for the protection of the pavement and prevention of further deterioration of concrete. After several years of operation a damage in the form of peeling and scaling on the concrete pavement of the runway of the aerodrome appeared. Cores of concrete pavement in the characteristic areas of the cross-section of the thickness of 45 cm were cut out and the indexes of average density, humidity, water absorption, compressive strength of concrete were studied. A comparative analysis of the physical and mechanical characteristics of the concrete at the height of the pavement for damaged and undamaged sections of the runway was carried out. The analysis showed lower indexes of strength, average density and higher water absorption of concrete surface layer. The effect of hydrophobization of the concrete surface with chemical reagents of the leading world producers (BASF, SIKA, Mapei, CHEM-CRETE Corporation, etc) was investigated. On the basis of the results of the test for hydrophobicity of the concrete surface after treatment with reagents of different nature and mechanism of action it is recommended to protect pavement using Pavix CCC100® waterproofing for concrete. Monitoring of the pavement after treatment indicates the high efficiency of the reagent.
