Establishment and application of organoid models for tumor immune microenvironment

Abstract

Tumor microenvironment ( TME) refers to tissue cells and extracellular matrix other than tumor cells, which plays an important role in the initiation, progression, invasion and metastasis of tumors. The clinical efficacy of tumor immunotherapy has been proved, which makes tumor immune microenvironment become a hot topic in the field of tumor research. Therefore, the need to establish a patient-specific tumor-immune interaction model is urgent. Compared with the traditional 2D model of in vitro tumor immunotherapy, the newly developed 3D in vitro organoid culture can more realistically simulate the tumor immune microenvironment. This paper reviews the latest advances in this field, including the establishment method of simulated TME organoids, the application research of the model in immunotherapy modeling, prediction of immunotherapy response and precision medicine, and the research and industrialization status of organoids.
