Game techniques as a means of professional self-determination

Abstract

The article deals with the issue of professional self-determination of the individual. It summarizes research material on the subject including studies of the most prominent academicians and works of contemporary authors. The article describes and shows relation between various stages of professional self-determination of the individual (pre-professional training, professional training, and professional activity); summarizes the features of each period and describes speci¿ cs of self-determination at all of them. The article pays special attention to the role of games as a tool that supports the process of personality development at various age levels. The author proves that game technics can be an important factor in self-determination of the individual and de¿ nes their role at every stage of the process putting a special emphasis on succession of games during the transition from one stage to another. The article describes the role of these technics in a multi-faceted process of professional self-determination: from the orientation of the person in a variety of professions to the selection of a particular one, and subsequently to the perfection of their professional skills, professional and personal growth and self-development. The author indicates that the game is a tool that not only helps to determine the attitude of the person to a professional working environment, but also helps to build awareness of being a part of the certain occupational group. The author concludes that at all stages of self-determination game technics are a means of cooperation, interaction and correction of students’ behavior
