Abstract
The article is devoted to the coverage of the nature and content of the concept of testimony in criminal proceedings in the territory of modern Ukraine starting from Kievan Rus to the Cathedral code of 1649, inclusive. It is analyzed the genesis of the concept of “indications” in the specified period and the legislation that regulated external receiving indications. The author focuses on the procedural evolving notions of “indications” and evidence meaning indications.
