Jurisdictional heterogeneities in health coverage of Argentina population: transformations between 2001 and 2010

Abstract

In the paper we analyze the inter- and intra-provincial heterogeneities in levels of population health covered across jurisdictions of Argentina in 2010 and its transformation since 2001. The methodology is quantitative and is based on secondary data analysis. We used as a source of information the National Census of Population, homes and Housing. The main results are that between 2001 and 2010 the growth in population levels affiliated with health insurance was very uneven across provinces and between departments within them. Despite the above, we note that the level of heterogeneity remained stable considering the whole country. We emphasize the importance of considering the jurisdictional differences when the changes of health coverage it is analyzed.
