Naturally, the image of the country becomes sacred. The purpose of this article is to research means of sacralization of image of motherland in the works of Ukrainian-Canadian poets of the second half of the 20th century (Yar Slavutych, L. Korovnyk, R. Kedr, L. Murovych, V. Vorsklo, Dana Moore, O. Chernenko, A. Shum, O. Smotrych, O. Zujevskyj, I. Temertey, L. Tihovska). In the depiction of image of Ukraine authors used various means. But in this paper, this image is considered in the context of the sacred that is unexplored. Therefore, this research is essential. It was revealed that Ukraine is identified by lyrical hero as sacred land to which the thoughts are flying from the foreign land. Sacralization of the image of motherland is achieved by using traditional for Ukrainian literature images: 1) religious (Biblical); 2) national archetypes (images of folk art). An important place among them occupies the archetype of the mother. While comparing the motherland with the image of the God’s Mother (biblical principle) directs to the image of Ukraine-mother, the national poetic tradition – to the image of a girl, a woman. The images of oak, yevshan, guelder rose are allocated in the system of folk images as symbols of wisdom of ancestors, historical memory.
