N. GOGOL’S WORKS IN POLISH TRANSLATION

Abstract

The article is in line with current research, because Gogol’s heritage remains to be understudied topic in comparative studies. N. Gogol’s works in Polish Translation were studied by many authors, including V. Horev, B. Mucha, M. Oklot, Y. Polishchuk, A. Vo-lodzko-Boutkievich and a number of other researchers. However, in recent years, we observe appearance of a number of new trans-lations of the works of Gogol. The purpose of this paper is to analize history of translation of Gogol’s works in Polish that have not yet been the subject of scientific interpretation. It is shown that K. Tur’s translation (2016) of «Dead Souls» by Gogol and detailed interpreter’s commentary built range of perception, which raises the issue of «Gogol and Poland» among the pressing issues of intercultural dialogue. Felix Netz’s translation (2015) of «Selected Passages from Correspondence with Friends» by Gogol can be considered as landmark publication. It was proved that translations actualize a number of issues that need consideration in further studies. It is noted that the Polish and Ukrainian comparative studies of the last decade of Gogol’s creative work concentrated around common themes.
