Abstract
About School Readings Illustrations Recommended in School Curricula for Integrated Education on the Threshold of the 21st Century At the turn of the 20th and 21st century the organization and curriculum was changed in Polish school. Therefore, a new selection of reading for early school pupils was also proposed. At this educational stage school reading influences both through literary and visual form. The complete formation of human personality includes introduction to understanding of cultural communications, requires preparation from the earliest years of life. In the visual education of early school children the key assumption is the usage of books with illustrations of artistic character. They constitute the first artistic medium, the primary carrier of aesthetic values. Due to the ubiquity of visual culture in the 21st century, it has a vital significance in the contemporary aesthetic education of a child. The article reviews the role of the use of book illustration in the work with a child in grades I–III in terms of the school reading discussed with the pupil.
