PSYCHO-PEDAGOGICAL APPROACHES TO THE ESSENCE OF HEALTH CULTURE

Abstract
The article presents description of the role of health culture for successful implementation of professional activity of future specialists. The main attention is drawn to the analysis of scientists’ approaches to the essence of scientific definitions of «health» and «culture». The methodological bases of the research of the essence of «health» and «culture» are based on the set of philosophical, psychological, pedagogical and health ideas, views, phenomenon on the problems of formation, preservation, restoration and strengthening of students’ health during their studying at universities. Health determines the quantity and quality of labour potential and defines the harmony of the society. Health is considered to be the most significant condition for self-fulfilment. The state of health determines the physical and intellectual activity, efficiency, full social life. Genetic component, environment, social factors, life strategy have an impact on the state of health. Culture is the level of education, person’s upbringing and the level of mastery of a certain branch of knowledge or activity. Scientific term «culture» is integrative, interdisciplinary and multifaceted. In the general sense, culture - is all that is created by human and society, all the processes and results of their spiritual and material activities. From the standpoint of our study, we will consider the term «culture» in the unity of two components: social (culture as a way of ensuring organization and improving of individual’s life) and personal (a certain degree of subject’s education). It is proved that the problem of health culture and its formation in the system of higher university education is not studied well. Scientific category of “health culture”, which is understood as an integral part of the general culture is clarified. Health culture determines the degree of dependence of individual’s health on the strategy of constructing its relations with the outside world and with himself. Health culture should act as a system of knowledge, values and attitudes, emotional and volitional experience of the teacher, which aims at self-knowledge, self-development and self-improvement of individual’s health, which is necessary for a qualitative life, productive longevity, the performance of vital missions which are based on his willingness for practical activities on the improvement and preservation of health.
