Journal Title: International Journal of Ayurveda & Alternative Medicine - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
In this modern era’s sedentary life style, faulty food habits and stressful jobs are giving rise to so many diseases. All these have direct impact on agni and this impaired state of Agni produces ama. Ama generates acute as well as chronic conditions, when oxygen is utilized to turn food into energy, reacts with free radicals much more rapidly than the body components do. Undigested food attains shukatva (fermentation) leading to the onset of toxic state. Ayurveda has mentioned two objectives, i.e., preservation of the health in the healthy and treatment of disorders in the diseased. Ayurveda recommends healthy life style through Aahara, Vihara, Aaushadh (Deepan, Pachan), Rasayana and Sanshodhana therapy etc. The curative aspect and various drug formulations or regimens has been given described especially in description of the management of various diseases.
