The activity of 1st- and 2nd-level Music Schools in Ruda Śląska regarding music culture promotion within the local community in 2010-2015

Abstract
The article discusses the issues concerning promotional activity of music schools within a local community. Based on the example of 1st- and 2nd-level music schools in ruda Śląska, there is presented the role of such educational institutions in terms of promoting and publi- cizing high art. Apart from their leading role in the field of art education, they often become peculiar music culture centers, particularly in smaller towns where existing cultural institu- tions are oriented, almost exclusively, toward the needs and tastes of the mass audience. the above-mentioned analysis is preceded by a historical overview of the school and the charac- teristics of the institution’s organization since its foundation in 2010. the article is annexed with a table containing a detailed list of communal events held by the school’s students and teachers in 2010-2015.
