THE ORIGIN AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE IMAGE PHENOMENON IN THE HISTORY OF HUMANITY

Abstract
Detailed historiographical analysis of image phenomenon has been carried out. It was established that image hasn’t been the subject of special study in previous eras, but due to its practical significance has been widely used in practice. The origin and development of the image as a socio-cultural phenomenon and independent concept in cultural practices and social-philosophical discourses at different stages of society development is explored. The main directions of image studying in various fields of modern science are outlined. The integration of different sciences ideas to image understanding will allow to form a coherent idea of image as a multidimensional socio-cultural phenomenon.
