ТРАНСФОРМАЦІЯ ЄВРОПЕЙСЬКОГО СОЮЗУ, BREXIT ТА ЄВРОІНТЕГРАЦІЙНИЙ НАПРЯМ СУЧАСНОЇ ТУРЕЧЧИНИ

Abstract
The article examines and analyzes the reasons for the growth of Euroskepticism in Europe, the challenges of the European Union functioning as well as some scenarios of EU future operation and the impact of the EU possible transformation on its bilateral relations with Turkey. It is analyzed the consequences of a British exit from the European Union for each of the parties from both a political and an economic points of view. The author also explores the relevance of the European integration ambitions of the modern leadership of the Republic of Turkey regarding the country’s membership in the European Union. The article researches the main factors of Euroscepticism expansion in Europe among the European Union countries and argues that anti-European or Eurosceptic parties are in favor of EU reforms and weaker EU in which member states retain more sovereignty, others even call for a cessation of the Eurozone or even the EU itself. The issue of the future existence of the EU is perhaps the most urgent issue of the present and discussions on some possible scenarios of the EU functioning in the future are gaining momentum. It is also stressed that even successful transformation of the EU will not be able to protect it from losses if Brexit really happens. EU position as the most powerful political association in the world will be significantly weakened, because the EU will lose an important player at the negotiating table so necessary for the world decisions. Special attention is given to an analysis of bilateral relations European Union and Turkey. It is said that Turkey seems to have become far from its European integration process by allowing itself to be ambiguous in some kind of statements as for “collapsing” of Europe and that the destruction of it will be “a payment” for the fact that the EU has been dealing with Turkey for many years. At the same time, the Turkey President says that Ankara will not stop the accession process, do not throw a towel and will not surrender.
