Transition Of Histology Course From Traditional Microscopy To Digital Microscopy

Abstract
ABSTRACT: Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the satisfaction rate of students from medical and dental schools with different parameters during the use of light and digital microscopy. Methods: Satisfaction survey was administrated to second year medical and dental students. The students were asked to evaluate the two different microscopy course in terms of “ease of usage”, “pleasure during usage”, “preference”, image quality and clarity” and “simplicity and clarity in the exam”. Results: Digital microscopy scores were significantly higher compared to light microscopy for “ease of usage”, “preference”, “image quality and clarity” and “simplicity and clarity in the exam” while light microscopy scored higher for “pleasure during usage”. Conclusions: The results of this study demonstrate that the new generation whom are born and raised with close relationship to technology innovations are more willing to work and more comfortable to work with the digital microscopy.
