Abstract

This work presents a profile of the school principal, from research based on the life narratives of four principals of good performance schools: three of them from Rio Grande do Sul and one of them from Singapore. The three schools from Rio Grande do Sul stand out for their results in ENEM and IDEB. The Singaporean school was presented as a prominent one by the Brazilian embassy, besides the fact that the country achieved the best result in the world in PISA 2015. Concepts on management, evaluation, performance, ENEM, IDEB and PISA are presented in this work. In addition, the research methodology based on life narratives is approached. Finally, the good performance school principal profile radar is proposed.

Abstract

In line with the socioeconomic transformations that have occurred in the last decades, the global apparel market has been organized in a way that large companies benefit from economies of scale and expand and operate in markets in different countries. Thus, local micro and small enterprises are pushed to rethink their brand identities. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to address the role of design in building fashion microenterprises brands and for this purpose, in addition to the literature review on the subject, we present the results of a qualitative research, theoretically anchored in symbolic interactionism concepts, carried out with five micro-entrepreneurs in the sector, in the city of Porto Alegre. The results indicate that interviewees are aware of the importance of design, although perceptions of the role of design in the construction of their brands varied among participants.

Abstract

The present study aimed at evaluating the process of democratization of graduate education through the Open University of Brazil (UAB) program of the State University of Ceará, in the light of students’ perception of a graduate course. The study has a qualitative approach and descriptive nature; a semistructured interview was conducted with six interviewees from a group of 30 students concluding in the year 2018 the Public Management class in the Mauriti-CE polo, and the data was submitted to Content Analysis based on Bardin (2011). The results pointed to the process of democratization, revealing positive factors such as autonomy, comfort and flexibility in the learning process, which guarantee to everyone the right to study where, when and how they want, ensuring the universalization of learning. There were also challenges, such as the difficulties of some respondents to ask questions and the slowness to absorb content, when compared to face-to-face courses. The work contributed to the affirmation of the UABUECE program as a public policy for the expansion of free graduate studies, and provided a positive evaluation of the Public Management course in the online format.

Abstract

The present article aims to present, in the view of the administrative managers of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), how the process of development of the Differentiated Regime of Public Procurement (RDC) in the Institutional Bidding Policy is constituted. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and bibliographical and documentary research. The results point out that the RDC overcame the doubts and uncertainties that were initially present when it was implemented. It also represented a cultural change in the scope of the Bids at UFSC, it is developed under the prism of efficiency and procedural promptness, and it provides due expected cost in terms of hiring engineering construction works and services.

Abstract

The present work aims to present an expert system based on a knowledge base, developed and tested from the thinking of Zygmunt Bauman. This system can be used as a facilitator in understanding concepts and their relationships in meaningful learning. The application methodology consists in the insertion of data on a knowledge base, from which conceptual maps are loaded automatically, based on the concepts registered in the system. The subjects of this research are the research professors of the Graduate Program in Education, Professional Master’s in Education and Technology (MPET) of the Sul-rio-grandense Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology (IFSul), Campus Pelotas, who use Bauman as a reference in their work. The educational theory used as the basis for this study is the Significant Learning Theory (SLT) and the presented results include conceptual maps generated directly from the concepts expanded by the knowledge base, and also the gains in the learning process by the students using a specialist system.

Abstract

The profession and the accounting professional have adapted the historical changes and the technological evolutions, from the manuscript to the computerized, from bookkeeper to accountant this professional has taken a more active position in the organizations. The objective of this study is to identify, through the structure of analysis, the elements that make up the professional profile of Boa Vista, Roraima, which are the competencies, skills, behaviors and knowledge of professionals related to accounting activity. The study was carried out with 10 professionals who performed the accounting activity, selected by convenience sampling, where data were collected through semi-standardized interviews and analyzed by the content of the answers, based on the theoretical models studied, in order to represent the quality of the information and data presented. The research allows to conclude that the elements of intellectual, functional, personal, business communication, technological and global, behavioral, traditional, emotional and personal marketing aspects set up the profile of the accountant, these elements influence the way these professionals perform accounting and must be aware of the new changes that the profession faces, whether related to specific knowledge or technology.

Abstract

The purpose of this proposal is to present the results of the didactics carried out by the professors in Higher Education and its impacts on student learning. The field of didactics, according to some authors, is restricted to the development of teaching techniques, as tools for the development of processes, aiming at the best performance and results (SFORNI, 2012, PIMENTA; ANASTASIOU, 2012, HAYDT, 2011). ResearchGate was used to collect data. From research done at ResearchGate, hundreds of researchers from around the world, from different universities, have had the opportunity to respond and express their opinions about it. One question that led to a data collection was: Should the teacher focus on rigorous learning or learning with entertainment? The analytics set list, the record on the content, the record on the content, the top of the questions in the content, and the most important survey. The results indicate that it is necessary to use the technologies that come from globalization in favor of teaching. Technological innovations and the new way of living and looking at the world must be appropriated. The new generations are involved with new technologies from a very early age, being necessary to establish a form of protection of resources, in an engaging and motivating way.

Abstract

This article intends to describe and analyze the investments of the Pró-Rector of People Managament of the Federal University of Santa Maria in server registration fees for external events. For this, the methodology used in the study is a descriptive quantitative research, the data analyzed were obtained through the reports issued by the Information and Teaching System of the UFSM, referring to the efforts made to pay registration fees for servers in the period between 2008 and 2015. The results showed that PROGEP’s investments in server registration fees at external events were performed in a very unequal manner among UFSM units. The differences were presented in several factors such as sectors, positions (teachers or administrative technicians). Thus, to reduce the disparity in investment in registration fees, it is concluded that PROGEP should standardize clear criteria for the distribution of these resources.

Abstract

With the increasingly competitive job market, it is essential to hire employees more effectively. Thus, the creation of a competency-based selection process for new positions in a company significantly reduces the margin of error of hiring, as well as lower financial expenses on the process. This study aimed to report on the experience gained in the selection process, and to develop a new specific methodology for hiring staff, through interviews and group dynamics, where through the description of the open position, can to point out the necessary characteristics to be observed in the candidates, as well as in the theoretical and practical knowledge. This study was conducted in a company in the area of industrial services, through the creation of a people selection process focused on the candidates’ competencies, according to the specific technical and behavioral needs for the open position, according to the consultation. prior description of the position in question, already existing in the company. Was selected to join the organization, the candidate who showed the highest specific skills, behavioral skills, theoretical knowledge, and has the longest technical experience for the desired area.

Abstract

Work environments are attentive to change, so they look for a pleasant and safe place, conducive to productivity, because this daily life directly influences people’s lives and emotions. What is observed is that to work well, and in groups, people need not only technical skills to perform their functions, but also emotional skills. In this sense, this research aims to evaluate the relationship between interpersonal factors in the workplace and the quality of life at work. It is classified as bibliographic, qualitative and quantitative, exploratory-descriptive. To carry out the study, a questionnaire was applied to the employees of a supermarket chain in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul. Through the data analysis, it was possible to verify that the quality of life at work is linked to the way in which women work. Interpersonal relationships occur in this environment, as well as their influence on whether or not goals are achieved. Assertive results on employee satisfaction and dissatisfaction were also evidenced. Future projections are expected to include an action plan to enable improvements in the aspects of interpersonal relationships that interfere with quality of life at work.

Abstract

The research aims to verify potential relationships between the adoption of management models and the activities of innovation in high-performance Ibero-American organizations. Fourteen organizations from Brazil, Chile, Spain and Portugal were investigated. It was carried out a qualitative methodology with document analysis, literature review, data collection by interviews and data analysis. The analysis procedures were performed with content analysis technique by N-VIVO software. The results show that management excellence models adopted by high performance organizations influence the innovation activities. This research identified the main organizational factors inducing innovation in high-performance Ibero-American organizations allowing to propose an innovation management framework based on the best practices from the sample organizations, from high-maturity management excellence models and from innovation awards.

Abstract

Based on the need for companies to remain competitive and dynamic in a constantly changing scenario, this theoretical study sought to describe the evolution of the concept of knowledge spillovers, presenting a framework demonstrating its evolution. To accomplish this task, 23 articles on theoretical development on the subject were analyzed, resulting from a systematic review of the literature on the theory of knowledge spillovers. The theoretical contribution of this study is presented in a framework demonstrating the concepts, the main insights on the theme, the authors involved in this theme and the emergence of new elements within the concept of knowledge spillovers over time.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify and describe how MBA students learn and apply the knowledge and skills developed in the course in their work practices. The study has a qualitative approach and a descriptive nature. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with students and graduates of Postgraduate Management Courses with the title of MBA. The results obtained from the analysis of the interviews pointed to the importance of the students in three aspects: (1) in choosing the course that best suits their education needs and the challenges they face at work; (2) in their commitment to learning throughout the course; and (3) in their initiative and motivation to apply the knowledge and skills they learned. Basically, the application occurs in two ways: (a) direct application, which implies changes in behavior at work; and (b) indirect application, which involves development for new challenges and broadening the business vision as a whole. Finally, it should be noted that the application of knowledge and skills at work consolidates the learning process, combining theory and practice.

Abstract

This narrative was constructed from a documentary research with archives made available by the Administration Department and the Internship Sector of the Administration Course of the State University of Montes Claros – UNIMONTES. Course plans for the years 1978 to 1997, a report for the end of the course of the year of 1998, and Pedagogical Political Projects from 2000 to 2013 were consulted. We aimed, throughout this work, to reconstruct the history of the course of Administration at the referred University. The objective is to analyze how the UNIMONTES Business Administration course influenced (or was influenced) by the context of Industrial Development of Northern Minas Gerais. The argument presented is that the course was of fundamental importance in the development of Montes Claros and the northern region of Minas; and that SUDENE had a direct influence on the emergence of the course. These constructions will be indicated from the analysis of how the course was born from a need for qualified professionals to work in the large industries that settled in the city. And through this narrative it is sought to perceive the relationship built between the university, the government and the local companies, using the Triple-Helix model as a study base.

Abstract

The objective of this work was to analyze the relationships between the characteristics of construction companies and performance measurement criteria and the Strategic Thinking Schools. The research has descriptive and quantitative characteristics is. For its operationalization, a structured questionnaire was applied with managers of 29 construction companies and three groups of variables were investigated: (1) characteristics of construction companies; (2) factors related to performance measurement criteria; and (3) Strategic Thinking Schools. The following statistical techniques were used: descriptive analysis of variables and the application of Spearman’s coefficient. The results showed a significant relationship between the degree of formalization of the processes and the Learning School. Regarding aspects of performance measurement, the results suggest that there are relationships in greater proportion, since all factors investigated were related to at least one School of Strategic Thinking. Given the results obtained, it is important for managers to consider more appropriately aspects associated with performance evaluation against the adopted strategic positions.
