The ethnographic study was conducted between May 10 and June 25, 2007 and was founded in twelve field trips. The results indicate that there are inherent aspects of the family core between merchants’ kinship networks that cultivate ties of friendship, symbolized by the “drinking of chimarrão”, which, although being a bitter beverage, symbolizes the sweetness of relations. Despite the dispute in talks, there is a sharing of the pump used to suck the drink. Keywords: Chimarrão. Public Market. Organizational Culture.
